Day 3 {A McDougalling We Will Go}

This morning began bright and early (well, dark and early actually) at 5 am. I personally am doing fine with the no caffeine aspect of it all since I haven’t been able to tolerate caffeine in years anyway, Homme is another story though.  Les Gourmand Homme is having the “no caffeine headaches”, proof further that caffeine is terrible for the body. Anything that causes withdrawal symptoms when you stop it, is probably something you should avoid anyway right?

What are we loving about the diet so far?  No portion control, no measuring and weighing, all we have to do is stick to the approved foods list.

Yesterday for dinner we had a fantastic 16 bean veggie stew and baked potato. I had previously thought I would never make it with no butter, cheese, and sour cream on my baked potato; I replaced the butter with a powder called Butter Buds and the cheese with Nutritional Yeast Flakes, then sprinkled it with homemade jalapeno salt and the potato was actually very good.  I think I am beginning to adjust mentally to the no butter thing, which I never thought possible because butter is every good thing (tastewise anyway). I’m southern so me without butter is like Paula Deen with no “y’all” in her vocabulary.


On the menu today for breakfast:

Fruit bowl and bottle of water

 

Lunch:

Baked Potato and soup, veggies with hummus I made using an oil free recipe! (I’ll share the recipe below)

 

Dinner:

We winged it! I sliced zuchini and sauteed it in water with Cavender’s Greek Seasoning, baked potatoes, carrots, celery, radishes, hummus, leftover soup from yesterday’s dinner, and hubby ate a boca burger.  That was a ton of food right!? It was yummy!

 

Hummus Recipe

Soak Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans) overnight in prep.

Place in large kettle and cover with water 3-4 inches over beans

Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer (be sure to skim the foam off) for about 2 hours (until beans are easily mashed)

Place 15 oz Beans into a food processor

1/3 cup Vegetable broth

2 cloves garlic

2 tablespoons Lemon Juice

Blitz into oblivion until it is smooth and creamy as all hummus should be!  Repeat until all the beans are used


Winging it probably wasn’t the best idea, but I forgot to plan! It’s now 9:00 PM and I just asked Les Deux Gourmand Homme what he’d like for supper tomorrow and he said nothing, ever, lol because he is absolutely stuffed from tonight’s toss together meal! It feels so good to lose weight and never feel hungry, this is an all new concept to us!
